vSphere Web Console will not launch
Symptom
When attempting to launch the VMware vSphere Web Console from vCenter, the console does not launch, no error codes are present. No pop-up blocker is enabled.
Environment
VMware vCenter 6.7 + & Microsoft Windows
Cause
The default option for the web console preference has been set to 'VMware Remote Console'. The VMRC is not installed on the windows machine you are attempting to launch from.
Resolution
You must modify the 'VM Console Preference' and set it to 'Web Console'. To do so:
- Find your logon name in the top right of the vCenter web page, usually 'administrator@vsphere.local'
- Click this to display the drop down. Select 'Change VM Console Preference'
- Select the 'Web Console' radio button and then click 'OK'
The console will now launch properly.
